1938
George Schmidt & Henry Heide begin fabricating custom kitchen & bar equipment for local establishments in neighboring Irvington, NJ
1942
G&H finished construction on 1423 Chestnut Avenue
WORLD WAR II
The United States enlist G&H to manufacture metal products for the war effort, including vital components for Willy’s (JEEP) utility trailers and front line communications cable spools
1956
Construction of G&H’s second addition is finished, doubling it’s manufacturing space
1970’s
Sons of Henry Heide, Harry & Carl, succeed G&H’s founders. The brothers expand into new industries like laboratory and R&D supply, telecommunications, semiconductors, and pharmaceuticals
June 1977
G&H completes construction of Delta Solar, an abstract stainless steel sculpture commissioned by Venezuelan sculptor Alejandro Otero as his nation’s bicentennial gift to the United States. Delta Solar is located on the grounds of the Smithsonian’s National Air and Space Museum in Washington, DC
1982
Harry & Carl purchase 1429 Chestnut Avenue expanding G&H's manufacturing to 20,000 sq ft
1999
G&H introduces 3D Solid design consultation, CNC punching, and specialty welding
2000’s
Technology additions include CNC Forming, CNC Laser Cutting, ERP/MRP Shop Management Software
2014
Henry's grandson, Eric, named President and continues the Heide legacy of quality family owned & operated Custom Architectural Metal Manufacturing and OEM Fabrications
2018
Following a major shift in management, engineering and production, G&H invests in expanded capacity, implementing production flow efficiencies, and upgrades to building and infrastructure. G&H adds material handling capabilities, expanded sheet inventory, establishes two new fully equipped welding departments and a dedicated polishing & finishing department
